Bridging the Gap

The mission of High Pointe’s Bridge the Gap Ministry is to encourage and model Biblical unity by establishing relationships based on grace and love, committing to active listening, and gaining a better understanding of one another’s differences.

Who We Are

With the awareness that our country is severely divided over many issues, including race, we are spiritually driven to fulfill God's commands for unity and love of our neighbor.   We are not politically driven and do not align with any party or group.

We support the Biblical call to love our neighbor, recognizing that we are all God's children.  We are diverse in our makeup, backgrounds, experiences, and skin color, being fully aware that only an approach based upon the genuine and unconditional love of Jesus Christ has a chance at making a dent in the racial division that exists in our churches, our community, our country, and our world.

Our Biblical Framework

Mark 12:31 - The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’  There is no commandment greater than these.”

John 17:18-21 - As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.  For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.  “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me

Romans 10:12-13 -  For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,  for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

1 Corinthians 12:13 - For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.

1 John 4:19-21 - We love because he first loved us.  Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.  And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.

Why We Exist

Because the New Testament church struggled with cultural differences.

Because the New Testament church struggled with racial differences.

Because the New Testament church struggled with those who were rich and those who were poor.

With humble hearts, this outreach will strive to bring about change through kindness, respect, prayer, inclusion, and increased awareness. The foundation of these efforts is the unconditional love that Christ exhibited to ALL people, and through this, may our community find peace, healing, and reconciliation to God's glory.

Unity Table

We have adopted a simple practice being utilized by many area churches where the lunch/dinner table is used as a disarming setting to help facilitate heart-to-heart discussions and sincere active listening. By putting ourselves in a position to learn more from and about one another, we increase our chances of being able to overcome divisive issues.   Many area cities have proclaimed every 5th Sunday as "Unity Table" day in their communities.
