FriendSpeak/ Let's Start Talking

FriendSpeak is an internationally known program offering the chance to improve the English skills through creating meaningful conversations using New Testament books such as Luke, Acts, and John! For our church members, it is the shortest and least expensive mission trip one can take. FriendSpeak is designed for those who already speak a little English, but who want to practice “conversation.” The reading sessions are between 45 minutes to one hour in length. Part of the time is spent in friendly conversation, the basis for a relaxed, and caring atmosphere. The remainder of the session is spent using a lesson from one of the FriendSpeak workbooks. This year 26 High Pointe volunteers read over 600 hours with the 64 students who came to us. Two readers were baptized in 2015. Many others were drawn closer to God. If this outreach interests you, please contact David Woodward. To see additional High Pointe FriendSpeak pictures and videos, visit https://friendspeak.shutterfly.com/pictures.
Opportunities to serve:
Every Sunday Morning at 9AM in the High Pointe gym
Every Wednesday at 6PM in the UTD Student Union Food Court in front of Starbucks.

Let's Start Talking is an evangelistic tool that helps people learn English using readings and conversations from the book of Luke. As a reader goes through the biblical text with a trained worker and practices his or her English, questions naturally arise about Jesus and his teachings. These then become opportunities for workers to share their faith. This is a natural, non-threatening way to share the gospel.
