Our Story

In 1917, Lex Lowrey, George Hardin, and F.M. Scott met in the Hardin and Scott homes in 1918 the church moved to the vacant Presbyterian Church building on the corner of Church and Davis Streets where they met for about two and a-half years. Then in 1920, the church relocated to the Pope Theater and then to the R&R America Theater.

In 1923 they purchased a house on Wilcox Street and met at that location for 23 years. On August 18, 1946 the congregation moved to a new building at the corner of Church and Davis Streets and met at that location for 26 years.

April 2, 1972 marked the beginning of Westside Church of Christ located on White Avenue. In 1987 the congregation began having two worship services on Sunday morning and moved the teen classes to an offsite facility: attendance was just over 600. The church met at that location for 27 years.

In October of 1990, the church family purchased 17 acres of land just north of Wilmeth Road on the west side of Central Expressway. In late 1997 the Westside building was sold to the McKinney School District and construction of a new facility began. In May of 1999 the congregation started meeting temporarily at Faubion Middle School. In November of that year a new name was selected: High Pointe Church of Christ.

In the spring of 2001 the congregation moved into the current location with renewed commitment and focus to spreading the message of Jesus Christ throughout northern Collin County and the world. Just as the early mission of Collin McKinney and J.B. Wilmeth was back in 1917, High Pointe continues to help others come to know Jesus Christ today.

High Pointe will  faithfully follow God's leading, by the Spirit, and the love of Jesus Christ.

We currently have individuals and families who come from all over Collin County (McKinney, Allen, Frisco, Plano, Prosper, Celina, Little Elm, Van Alstyne, Anna, Howe, Farmersville, and Princeton) and beyond. Our desire for the body of Christ that gathers on Sunday morning is that we will be equipped for works of service and ministry in our communities.
